Lionel Messi ended his international career with Argentina after scoring in a 3-0 win over Benin, according to The Guardian and ESPN FC.

The Guardian reported that the match was Messi's final appearance for Argentina after 21 years in international football, while ESPN said the game was his 208th cap and that he finished with 126 international goals.

Both publishers reported that Messi scored in the match, with The Guardian adding that he also provided two assists as Argentina won 3-0. The Guardian also said the game was briefly paused in the 10th minute for applause from the crowd.

ESPN quoted Messi after the match as saying, "Wish I could play forever."
